Who I am

A tester who reads the requirements first

I'm Hamza Abbas, a Software Quality Assurance Engineer at Simplex Technology Solutions in Lahore. Since December 2022 I've tested food-ordering and enterprise platforms used by large, real-world audiences, including KFC Pakistan, Domino's Pakistan, Pizza Hut across multiple markets, Papa John's, Kyochon and Dubai South.

My work starts before a build exists. I review requirements and FRDs and turn them into test cases. Then I test every release across web and mobile, from the first smoke check to the final sign-off.

I studied Software Engineering at the University of Management and Technology in Lahore. The engineering background helps me read logs, question API responses and talk to developers in their own terms.

  2. Dec 2022

    Joined Simplex Technology Solutions as an SQA Engineer

    Started testing high-traffic food-ordering platforms across web and mobile app: KFC Pakistan, Domino's, Pizza Hut and Papa John's, plus the Kyochon web platform.

  3. At Simplex

    Led QA and AMS for Dubai South

    Took on end-to-end QA ownership and Application Management Support for an enterprise smart-city platform.

  4. Now

    Growing toward Senior SQA

    Mentoring junior QA team members and expanding into Playwright and AI-assisted testing.

Where the interesting bugs live

  • Complex end-to-end journeys

    Ordering flows where menus, customization, payment, delivery and tracking all have to work together.

  • Integrations

    Places where data crosses system boundaries, and the logs reveal what the UI hides.

  • Behavior under load

    Seeing how a backend holds up when traffic spikes, before customers find out.

Working with developers

How I collaborate

  • Raise questions on requirements early, during FRD review, not after the build
  • Log defects developers can reproduce on the first try: steps, evidence, environment, expected vs. actual
  • Agree on severity and priority together instead of throwing bugs over the wall
  • Retest quickly and confirm fixes in the same environment
  • Share release risks openly so sign-off is an informed decision

Quality philosophy

How I approach quality

  • 01

    Understand the requirement first

    Most defects begin as misunderstandings. I read the FRD and question it before I test the build.

  • 02

    Think beyond the happy path

    Customers lose connection mid-payment, change the delivery address after checkout and order at midnight in another market. Those are the cases I go looking for.

  • 03

    Test like a user, verify like an engineer

    I walk through the product as a customer would, then check the API responses, the data and the logs to confirm what actually happened.

  • 04

    A good bug report is half the fix

    Clear steps, evidence and the expected result mean developers spend their time fixing, not reproducing.

  • 05

    Quality is a shared responsibility

    I work alongside developers and product owners, not after them. The goal is a reliable release, not a bug count.
